Rebecca Siegmund

Cats have a visual body language that Rebecca feels very empathetically connected with and in turn uses poses and facial expressions of these animals to project her own emotions with. Using vintage photo books as reference, the paintings of cats are distorted, mutated, and changed into a new illustrated language of their own, expressing the thoughts of the artist that she could not put simply into words. Rebecca is a 2004 graduate of MICA and a Baltimore native.
